In the case of R v M, our client was accused of putting a knife to his partner’s neck, and threatening to kill her. M denied this allegation, saying that he had argued with his partner and could have said “I’ll kill you”, but that he had not intended this as an actual threat and he had not had a knife at any time. M also denied allegations of common assault and taking a motor vehicle without consent.
Alistair Reid represented M at trial Manchester Crown Court, and cross examined the Prosecution witnesses to challenge their evidence. After 2 days of evidence and legal submissions, the jury retired to consider their verdict. After only 10 minutes, the jury returned to find M Not Guilty of all charges.
